Halfway There

11 Nov

So I’m quite excited!!!!

The husband and I got a fabulous surprise the other day which takes us near and around halfway to our savings goal. It couldn’t have come at a better time either because the goal seemed impossible.¬†A daunting task if you will…

Now, however my sense of stability and capability has returned and I’m so excited that if we stick to our plan we’ll be able to achieve our dreams. The past few years we’ve grown so much with each other and I’m hoping I can keep up this momentum.

On a thumbs up note, in my original blog about us trying to save I talked about us cutting down on luxuries like eating out blah blah….
To my shock we’re actually doing quite well. We’ve stuck to what we have outlined, aside from my coffee addiction still winning out; but that will cease once I no longer have to wake up at 4am.
Also, another bonus, Cari has actually cooked 3 nights this week!!!
Now for those of you who don’t know me, this may be a roll your eyes moment, but for those who do know me, this is a pat on the back pass the cigars around moment.
Just sayin…..

All in all, I’m quite excited about the road that we’re on and hopefully in less than a year we’ll be able to achieve our goal.

Till next time

A Week With No Word

10 Nov

I apologize. It has been a little over a week now and I’m back to my no updating ways…

Believe me I missed you and was constantly contemplating what to type on your lovely pages but to no avail was I triumphant. Please forgive me baby.

If you can’t tell, I’m slowly losing my mind. I’ve been working this new shift that’s 530AM to 200PM. Now for some of you morning birds this isn’t a problem, and you’re rolling your eyes telling me to stuff it. However, if you are one of the glorious night owls I pal around with than you’re aware that it’s difficult to go to bed at a decent time like 8 or 9 to get sufficient sleep. No, No, instead here I am at 9:04 PM writing this blog because even though my body is so retardedly exhausted I can barely stand my mind is going a mile a minute.

Lately I’ve been getting 3-4 hours of sleep and on top of that I’m in my 10 day stretch of my hormone popping.

  • Side note: I take progesterone because I suffer from PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and by taking these hormones it keeps everything in check and on time. However that being said, during this 10 day cycle I typically am tired, broken out, and easily angered; basically it’s PMS in pill form.

So I’ve been on this new schedule, I have an interview at work coming up, I’m doing the whole hormone thing, and I have a burlesque class on November 30th I’m preparing to teach, and a show in mid-December I’m choreographing/costuming for.

GAHHHH!!!!!!!

Ok so that’s my little meltdown on here. Expect more, but in the mean time I’ll try to keep you posted on the craziness that is my fabulous life ūüėÄ

Till next time

Dollars and Cents and Budgets, Oh My!

28 Oct

My husband and I are looking into some life changes and in order to put forth these changes I realize a few things are going to have to change.

So being the diligent, libra minded wife I am, I stayed up until 2 am this morning going through the last 3 months of bank statements to figure out what the majority of our spending was and where we could/should cut back.

To my astonishment I found that we’ve been spending over 10% of our monthly income on eating out alone!!! This may not seem like a large amount of funds for some but I think it’s a HUGE lump of money to be spent on restaurants¬†while the food in the fridge goes bad. So to battle this we’ve made a plan.

We’re cutting down to one¬†non home-made meal a week. When this out of the house meal is eaten it will not be fast food (because really, that’s not food at all) it will be at a nice restaurant where we will use a coupon from Restaurant.com. This gives us a nice outing and saves us about 50-70% of what we’d usually spend especially if we split it with another couple.

I also found that my coffee habit is not only dehydrating me but my budget as well. There’s no excuse for this especially¬†since I¬†own an espresso machine. That is right, I buy an Americano for $3.00 everyday, sometimes twice a day, and I can make it for probably around $0.15 a cup at home. Doing this will not only help with my budget but will also cut down on my carbon footprint by not having to throw away disposable cup after disposable cup. Yay bonus!

Finally, I have become a card carrying member of the coupon clippers. I never realized that it was so easy. I haven’t quite gotten the knack down yet, but I’m working on it and hopefully that will save us some dough as well.

Once we actually get the ball rolling on this plan, we’re going to attempt to¬†place the 10-15% that we’ll be saving¬†away to put towards our near future goal.

Fingers crossed!!!

Till next time….

Blog Whore

26 Oct

I’m a complete blog whore!

In the past¬†10 years I’ve probably started 12 blogs. I never keep up with them however. I get this exuberant rush from starting a new hobby, the hobby of words, but a month later I realize that I have nothing to say and I give up.

My goal however is to keep up with this blog and hopefully get people to actually read it. Honestly I’m not a big blog reader myself unless there are give aways or info about coupons or great deals, however I hope to bring more. How? I haven’t a clue, but we’ll see.

About me: I’m a mid twenty, married, female. (joy someone will steal my identity now) I’m a tech support rep by day and by night I’m a burlesque performer. My stage name is Cyanide Cupcake which I¬†decided directly upon a dizzying day of alliteration.

Those are the basics, I could give my measurements and describe my¬†features but we’ll have time for that later on.

Ah there’s that crisp feeling of a new beginning.

Till next time.
